<br />
I am Mithras Sol Invictus, and this is "South Hessian Black Metal, fuck everyone!!"<br /><br />Well, almost... we played two more gigs in Göttingen and in Mannheim, which went very well, and now we're back to working on the album. I've been practising my ass off for the fucking solos, studio is coming up next month, and the artwork is on its way as well.<br />
<br />
That being said - I recently noticed my blood pressure levels went far down, back to a healthy level, when I blocked almost everyone (except for a few musicians I know) who has anything to do with black metal from my facebook feed. What the fuck is wrong with black metal these days? The first thing may be that it takes place on facebook, and now I start sounding like Grandpa Mithras, but some trends still piss me off. First, to get this out of the way, can we stop discussing the political affiliation of EACH AND EVERY BAND?! We don't support right wing extremists and will speak out on that as well, but this is currently being taken much too far, from both sides mind you. All these connections "around three corners" are fucking meaningless - try this with Fallen Tyrant, and you'll probably end up convinced we're antisemitic pro-Israel islamophobic muslim-loving nazi communist fundamentalist Christian theistic pagan Satanists. And we fucking watch our backs who we associate with already, but you can construct something like this for each and every band.<br />
<br />
And while I'm at it: Fuck the hipsters. Since when has it become the norm for "black metal" bands to use tonloads of heart emoticons in their posts and use slang like Moneyboy (the guy who's been taking the piss out of German Hip Hop for the last years)? I know it's supposed to be "funny" and "edgy," but it's not. Stop it and think about creating a coherent concept for your art, will you? Even if it's extremely outlandish: At least Sunshine & Lollipops (check them out!) mean what they say and do, which I can't say for most of those pretentious wannabes. And hey, I'm completely fine with not wearing warpaint and looking like art students while playing black metal, as long as there's something sincere to it and some quality to the music, but stop the bullshit. Just stop it. And stop pretending "hipster black metal" is something new, unique or innovative. Just because your core audience has absolutely no clue who Emperor or Ulver are, doesn't mean your stuff hasn't been done before. Have you looked at and listened to fucking Ihsahn or Garm?!<br />
<br />
The "trve" community can stop to label everything they don't like "hipster" as well, and I know I've been guilty of that as well. You know, there's American black metal made by American black metal people that happens to sound vaguely similar to German hipster BM, but that doesn't mean the attitude behind it may not be completely different. Hell, there's German "hipster black metal" like Ultha, which isn't "hipster" at all, but full out black metal. <br />
<br />
More of this: If you play in a black metal band, wear corpsepaint and claim to be hardcore satanist (yeah right), that's perfectly fine as well, we understand, we're kind of in the same boat. But can we at least stop to call everything "orthodox" and "occult," and most of all, can we stop calling every fucking concert a "ritual"?! This is turning into being the "new hipster," to say it with a friend's wise words, and very, very few performances are actually ritualistic in any way. I'll tell you, if we wanted to do a ritual, it would certainly not involve a bunch of drunk metalheads - and those people ARE the audience at most concerts, however "trve" and "elitist," and it's alright. A Fallen Tyrant show isn't a ritual: However we're painted up and however much of our inner darkness we spit out at the audience, it is and will always remain a pure balls-to-the-wall, hand made and heartfelt rock performance. Just with a different tone and maybe a slightly different attitude behind the music. And as I said, we might be doing something very ritualistic at some point, but that will involve very little audience, if at all.<br />
<br />
Then again - in the end, we're all artists and have the freedom to do whatever the fuck we like. But we also have the freedom to criticize it when other people are completely full of crap and try to pass it off as legitimate art, either to pretentious wankers who pride themselves in being overly "unique" (hipsters) or to weaklings who can't find their own identity and thus need to belong to a "elitist scene" (and you know who those folks are.) And remember, everyone is full of shit, even us, only the filling level is different - I have a feeling next to everyone in the black metal scene scores pretty high here. <br />
<br />
That's it. We keep working behind the scenes, and we'll be back on stage in autumn 2016.<br />
<br />
Worst,<br />MithrasUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3940060891950661405.post-3409365135803917512016-04-22T19:06:00.001+02:002016-04-22T19:06:52.865+02:00More updatesMorning,<br />
<br />
by the holy grandmother of Satan, it's been three months since I updated this page? Well, time flies... and we have, as usually, been quite busy in the meanwhile. First of all, we drove to Lörrach, near the Swiss border, on a short notice, to fill in for some band that had to cancel for health reasons. So, Fallen Tyrant played at a concert with a bunch of thrash metal bands, which turned out to be a good thing - worked quite well, obviously also for the reason that we just look a lot better on stage than a bunch of thrashers in street clothes. ;-) Quite a good live start for the year. There's also a video, with inferior sound quality, which you can check out below: We're actually playing an unreleased song there, so if you're REALLY interested...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe width="320" height="266" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/1YKA09XlN2Y/0.jpg" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1YKA09XlN2Y?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
After the gig, we drove home in the ice rain, which was also an experience - but we made it home safe.<br />
<br />
Next in line was Hofheim, on February 20th. Large event with 6 bands, we turned out to be more or less the soundcheck, with PA speakers constantly dropping out and stuff like that. Did probably turn a few people off, and somehow, connection to the audience didn't seem to happen. However, we got a) a few nice reviews, b) sold quite a lot of merch and c) got the video below, which is actually good! Sound is from the studio though...<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Next up: Saarbrücken, March 19th. This kind of took me back to the olden days, as we played at the Devil's Place, where I played one of my first gigs with my main band Wight. Nice little gig with Sunshine & Lollipops (yes, that's a black metal band - check them out if you like a mix of Celtic Frost and total complete madness, their new album is actually surprisingly good!), us in the middle and then Carn Dum from Saarbrücken. Well, despite some organisational difficulties beforehand, Unholy Constellation Concerts managed to pull off a good concerts with a good audience. Speaking of audience, here's to the worthless motherfucker in the first row who kept messing with our stage props, drinks and pedalboards:<br />
<br />
a) If you want to get drunk as fuck and mess with the band, you're not only wrong at a black metal concert, you're wrong at any concert.<br />
b) Don't be surprised if a band member jumps off the stage to get on your ass - especially if you have been warned repeatedly and your last reply was "Shut up and play!"<br />
c) Going on about it the entire evening and going so far as calling us "NSBM assholes" doesn't make you look any better.<br />
<br />
Apart from that cunt, I quite liked this gig.<br />
<br />
Only a week later, Bobstadt. Nice gig, shit sound, some nice pictures, all around a good evening with our friends from Hyems. A fair bit too many skinheads in the audience for my taste...<br />
<br />

So, here we are now, looking at two more gigs in the coming week:<br />
<br />
Saturday, April 23rd, JUZ Göttingen, with a few Death Metal bands.<br />
Thursday, April 28th, JUZ Mannheim with Yellow Eyes from the US (who are supposed to be some secret tip these days, so check them out if you like.)<br />
<br />
After that, we'll retreat from the live front for a while to finish up the album.<br />
<br />
That's it.<br />

things have been quite hectic lately. so here are the news about Fallen Tyrant in a nutshell.<br />
<br />
- We played a few gigs in the meantime, most notably the Pest Fest in our hometown. This is Pest Empire's festival, which was relocated to Darmstadt and mainly organized by us this year, as their plans for the venue in Speyer did not work out. Pictures below.<br />
<br />
- We released another song from our upcoming album - click <a href="http://www.misantrof.net/media/ANTIChristmas2015/666-07%20Astronomy%20%28including%20Interstellar%20Punishment%20and%20THe%20March%20Towards%20The%20Ultimate%20End%29.mp3" target="_blank">here to listen to "Astronomy (including Interstellar Punishment and The March Towards The Ultimate End"! </a>Nicely death metal tinged song with lyrics by Sperrfeuer Heretic. You can also download it along with some other nice songs over at <a href="http://www.misantrof.net/mse/viewPage.php?bandId=782" target="_blank">Misantrof.</a><br />
<br />
- We went into the studio in early January and finally finished recording the basic tracks of our new album. Now we only need to add vocals and guitar solos... this is taking some time, but believe us when we say that it's worth the wait.<br />
<br />
- Check out the "Assault" section (scroll down, right side.) There are quite a few nice gigs coming up, Hofheim, Saarbrücken, Bobstadt and Göttingen. <br />

<br />
real quick - we finally did a sort of online release of one of the songs from our upcoming album, which will most likely be delayed to mid-2016. After all, we're a merry round of busy bastards and have lot of things to do, musical and otherwise, that unfortunately tend to get in the way of recording and mixing an album. However, check out "A Whisper From The Concrete Below" either below or to your right, and drop by at bandcamp and download it. This song has replaced "Godhate" as a show opener since December last year.<br />
<br />
Also, keep checking our concert dates - there are a few new ones.<br />
<br />
All the worst,<br />

<br />
this is Mithras. Been a while again, but we're still here and still busy. We recently did a few live shows, the first one with Solbrud from Denmark in a small little cellar in Frankfurt. I had driven all the way from Berlin to get there, as I was gigging with my other band and another side project, and Nihlathak was tired as fuck from a party the night before. The gig was pretty good though, but note the glitter curtain behind us on the - otherwise epic - pic below.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<br />
Solbrud ripped it up that night as well, so all around a nice little underground black metal concert not too far away from home.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"Stuttgart, we are in you," April 2015</td></tr>

Back to rehearsals for a few weeks, before we took off for Stuttgart and Oberhausen in April. "Gaby's Gruft" in Stuttgart, were we opened for Pest Empire and Fortress Black (Narvik had canceled their appeareance. This was also the gig mentioned in the post earlier, that was supposed to be "boycotted" by the NSBM scene. Which as far as I know didn't have anything to do with Narvik's cancellation.), turned out to be a small Goth bar in a basement that smelled, to quote Nihlathak, "as if someone had wiped the floor with fucking onions." Not to mention it got worse once we lit up the frankincense, everyone in the audience was smoking, and Pest Empire started the hazer from hell, which led to visibility in there going down to zero. Anyways, a pretty good, if a bit sweaty and smelly, gig in the end with pretty good audience turn.out. It's really funny how different audiences react to the different parts of our songs... while in Frankfurt the d-beat and more thrashy parts really got people moving, Stuttgart's people seem to love the blast beats. <br />

After a long night drive back to Darmstadt and a good night's sleep, we loaded up again the next day for our gig in Oberhausen, supporting Thyrgrim and Northern Plague. Well, good venue, well-organized concert, just the attendance was sub-par, as Satyricon were basically playing next door. Actually, there was an okay amount of people, but they looked a bit lost in the large hall, and I guess our rock star friends from Thyrgrim were expecting a bit more. Anyway, nights like that happen to everyone - for us, it was totally fine, and we pulled off a short, but sweet show to pretty good audience reception. A necro-quality video of "Children of a Nuclear Dawn" was shot, see below. Sperrfeuer had some trouble with a sliding drum stool there, but it's still a pretty good live version - only that the sound quality is utter shite.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe width="320" height="266" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Kf3n0RcjJZM/0.jpg" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Kf3n0RcjJZM?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>
<br />
Fun fact of the night - one of our chandeliers was standing in the breeze caused by the stage ventilation. We had put new candles on it before the show, and after 35 minutes there was just a huge pool of wax on the floor, and the candles had vanished.<br />
<br />
Anyways, got a speeding ticket on the way back to Darmstadt fro driving FUCKING 120 ON THE AUTOBAHN AT NIGHT. But all in all, a pretty good weekend with two good shows - it always feels best doing two or more shows in a row.<br />
<br />
Currently, we've been rehearsing "Astronomy" a lot as Nihlathak and I will record vocals coming Tuesday. But I'll write more about that another time.<br /><br />Stay tuned,<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is Mithras writing. Here’s a little studio report from our recent recordings. You might want to check <a href="http://rhprod.blogspot.de/" target="_blank">Rene Hofmann's site</a> out for more technical details as he may write something about the recordings as well one of these days.</div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After the recordings to our last album were a bit rushed due to
lack of time and fuck-ups in the preparation phase, we decided to record
our next album in several steps, the first of which was recording three
songs a few weeks ago. We wanted, again, to record live, this time in
our rehearsal room. Of course, we don’t want a rough rehearsal tape, so
we recorded the basic tracks (bass / drums / guitar) live and fixed it
up with guitar and vocal overdubs, the latter of which still have to be
done. Producer of our choice is again Rene Hofmann, who specializes in
recording bands in their rehearsal spaces.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
We set up our stuff on a Sunday afternoon, kicked everything that
was not needed out of the room, installed space dividers to keep
crosstalk between the instruments down to a minimum, and covered
everything up in molton. Thomas, the drummer of my other band Wight,
showed up at some point to help us with the drum set up and to lend our
drummer his snare, which is quite a work of art. We had a quick rehearsal afterwards and ran through all songs once
again, before it was off for food, some beer and bed.</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Rene joined us early Monday morning, and it took us until noon to
complete the recording set up. Picture below shows Sperrfeuer in
control of his and Nihlathak’s headphone mix, while I usually record
without headphones.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sperrfeuer Heretic in control of headphone mix</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And off it was… the first song we recorded is called “A Whisper
From The Concrete Below,” It went in smooth and quickly, even though it
contains a clean guitar part (something I notoriously suck at) and a
bass solo (which we haven’t really done before either.) We decided to
proceed directly to the next song, “Astronomy,” which goes back to
lyrical and structural ideas by Sperrfeuer. Contrary to what some may
think, it’s not always me who starts off a song, even though I do come
up with most guitar riffs… or more like, the guitar riffs come up with
me. This was supposed to be the “evil” song with intertwining extremely
fast and very slow parts that aren’t that easy to get right, and quite
technical riffing. Technical by my low standards, anyways. It is also in
Drop C tuning, which we don’t usually use, and doesn’t work well with
the Stratocaster I usually use. So I had to build myself a guitar from
parts specifically for this song, which is the ash Strat with the solid
rosewood neck you can see in some pictures. I ended up using it for
almost all rhythm guitar overdubs in the end though, as it sounds quite
fat.</div>
</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Nihlathak tracking psychedelic bass madness</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
As expected, the song cost me a bit of nerve, and I did fuck up a
lot. I eventually had to use FUCKING HEADPHONES while recording to get
it right. However, Nihlathak and Sperrfeuer, who had been struggling
with the song as well, were suddenly rock solid (read: better prepared
than me), and we managed to get a good take of the entire thing after a
while, albeit with some little guitar bits in dire need of editing. </div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mithras overdubbing the fuck out of "Astronomy"</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
By
this time, it was getting late and we started running out of energy, but
after getting a bit of a reality check on my guitar playing, I wanted
to end the day with something cool. So I went in and recorded a fuckload
of lead guitar overdubs for a little bass/guitar harmony thing we have
going on in “Astronomy.” Feeling all like Brian May, I could go home
satisfied and have a few beers with Nihlathak, who was staying at my
place for the recordings, as he lives a few kilometers away.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But really, “Astronomy” wasn’t all that bad. “Children Of A Nuclear
Dawn,” which we have been playing live since, well, almost forever,
proved to be a bitch to record. We should have thought of that before we
came up with a 11 minute song that is mostly fast… anyways, it took
quite a while to nail that motherfucker down, and because we can’t have
our drummer blasting away for hours on end, we needed to give him a
break. So the guys chilled (and bored) out on the sofa outside our room,
while I went in to record guitar overdubs. That turned out to be
relatively easy, with actually a lot of one-takes on the rhythm guitar
parts, but a lot more takes for the solo guitars. Turns out, the two
guitars I have fit together very well and provide a very full sound. I
can assure you, the recordings already sound better than the last album…
which is true for bass and drums as well.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Playing "Children Of A Nuclear Dawn" for the 57th time</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, after Sperrfeuer had relaxed and recovered a bit, we recorded
the missing parts of “Children…”, and I completed overdubs for that song
as well. Done. Now, Nihlathak and I need to go to Rene’s Wasted Life
Studio to<span id="goog_173741769"></span><span id="goog_173741770"></span> record vocals sometime during the next weeks, and we hope to
maybe release one of the recorded songs in advance. Meanwhile, we’re
working on more songs for the album. All the basic stuff has been
written already, but we need to learn or re-learn a lot of it, clean up
some lyrics and arrangements, fix up solos etc. We will definitely
record the rest of the album this year, and then we’ll see how and when
we release it. It’s going to be a while, but mark my words, it will be
worth the time spent waiting. We hope to present a few more songs of the
new album during our next live shows (we already did a few at our
recent gigs.) So I’d advise you to move your ass there to get a bit of a
preview.</div>

<br />
this is Mithras. We have a few gigs upcoming, which we look forward to:<br />
<br />
29th of March in Frankfurt/Main with Solbrud from Denmark<br />
10th of April in Stuttgart with Narvik, Fortress Black and Pest Empire<br />
<br />
The wannabe trueness police clowns over at Mr. Zurawinski's infamous internet tough guy site have already started crying over the "NSBM FUCK YOU" on the poster of the Stuttgart concert and labeled us "leftist faggots". So be it, we don't need you idiots around, stay home and fuck yourself in the neck with a rusty knife.<br />
<br />
We're already blacklisted by quite a few black metal promoters in South West Germany due to our refusal to play with NS bands anyway... but luckily, there's also a large black metal underground that doesn't have anything to do with far right idiocy. This should be about Satan, the left hand path and being able to do whatever the fuck you want, not about Hitler, the right arm path (ba dum tss) and being told what to do. The Luciferian light has no colour or race.<br />
<br />
To end this with a quote: "WE TELL, WE ARE NOT TOLD!"<br />
<br />
This is South Hessian Black Metal, fuck everyone.<br />

<br />
we'll be having a nice little concert on January 31st in our hometown, be there! Our friends from <a href="http://www.geaest.de/" target="_blank">geÄst</a> were supposed to support us, but couldn't make it because their drummer left the band. They're looking for a new guy - maybe you - and will definitely join us for some future gigs once the problem is solved. Doom/sludge lords <a href="http://www.hessaja.bandcamp.com/" target="_blank">hessaja</a> will fill in for them. Also, <a href="http://www.thakandar.de/" target="_blank">Thakandar</a> from Osnabrück, an obscure and criminally underrated black/death metak quintett, will join us as a special guest. Do not miss their show, as they only play about once or twice a year these days, and they're actually really good.<br />
<br />
Furthermore, we'll have a first recoding session for the next album in early February, as well as another gig on March 29th in Frankfurt, supporting Solbrud from Copenhagen, Danmark.<br />
<br />
We have also joined <a href="http://www.undergrounded.de/" target="_blank">Undergrounded</a>'s band support, so we hope to kick some more asses this year. <br />

<span class="userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">Only that there will be none this year, as nobody has managed to piss
me off recently enough to justify ranting and rambling. I'll take a
short moment and reflect on how 2014 has been going for us, though.<br /> <br />
Basically, we have played only a few live gigs and spent most of the
time in our rehearsal space. It's not exactly been a busy year, but a
very creative one, a<span class="text_exposed_show">nd we have managed
to come up with almost an hour's worth of songs. We'll be recording some
of them in early February, the rest will follow as soon as we have
time, money and the ability to play them flawlessly. As much as I still
think the (much criticized) harsh and dirty sound on our last album was
the right choice for those songs, I think we will take a slightly
different approach this time. We will still record live in the studio,
but our new stuff has turned out to be a bit more intricate and
complicated songwriting-wise, so they deserve a sound that's a bit
"cleaner."<br /> <br /> Speaking of songwriting - have I mentioned
before that we're actually working on a kind of concept album? Not that
we have some kind of storyline, but the lyrics are a lot more connected
this time, as opposed to the last album, where I wrote them over a
period of 5 years. From the arising world political situation at the
time (mind you, BEFORE the Ukraine and IS clusterfucks) we decided to
deal with the topic of dystopia and the decay of industrialized
societies. It's probably been done to death before, but we'll present
our take, dealing with the shit that's been going on and a left hand
path view on it. Hopefully without delving into
horror-movie-we're-all-gonna-d<wbr></wbr><span class="word_break"></span>ie-covered-in-blisters-and-fis<wbr></wbr><span class="word_break"></span>traped-by-demons scenarios. <br /> <br />
And we're quite serious about it... I mean, I personally don't expect a
thermonuclear apocalypse anytime soon (which is why it's not really
appearing on our album either), but the party as we know it might
definitely be over within our lifetime. Now you decide whether that's a
good or a bad thing, opinions on that probably even vary within the
band. Which is reflected in the lyrics, which I didn't write all alone
this time.<br /> <br /> Anyways, stay tuned and visit us at our concert on
January 31st in Darmstadt, we'll already be presenting a few songs off
the upcoming album there.<br /> <br /> I close this with a thank you to my
band mates who have worked with me tirelessly to craft one after the
other piece of black art. 2015 will stand in the sign of the Tyrant.
Now, enjoy New Year's Eve, everyone.<br /> <br /> THIS IS SOUTH HESSIAN BLACK METAL - FUCK EVERYONE!!!<br /> <br /> -Mithras</span></span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3940060891950661405.post-67117636945587573562014-05-28T09:53:00.002+02:002014-05-28T09:53:32.461+02:00A sign of lifeFolks,<br />
<br />
it's been a while. We had all planned gigs cancelled for various reasons - fuckups in the planning process, involvement of people we didn't want to support (if you know what I mean), timing troubles. Doesn't really matter, as we are currently busy creating new songs. Apart from "Children Of A Nuclear Dawn," which is really an old song we wrote in early 2012, and "Shifting Tides Along The Rhine," which we played live in Kreuztal, we have two more songs basically finished and are working on another two. Which makes six songs for a new release already, and more are to come. We are planning to record the follow up to "No World To Win, A Life To Lose" some time in the first half of 2015, but there might be some smaller release earlier, who knows?<br />
<br />
Direction wise, we're still playing mostly fast, aggressive, epic power trio Black Metal, but you'll find more complex (i.e. more absurd) song structures and psychedelic, spaced out elements on the new songs. Be prepared for something obscure... not quite Mitochondrion-obscure, but still "far out there."<br />
<br />
Children of a nuclear dawn, rise! <br />

The video quality wasn't the best to start with, but the sound is okay.<br />

Here's the album's title track:<br />

And here is To Finnmarken, featuring DTM, who was already out of the band at the time, but joined us on stage for one song, as he recorded the bass tracks on the album.<br />

<br />
we have recently returned to our rehearsal space and started working on more new songs. It's a very creative time for me right now, riffs start flowing out of me as soon as I pick up a guitar, and I can feel my bandmates going along with it and helping me to create Fallen Tyrant songs from this vortex of ideas.<br />
<br />
We have recently had screen print shirts made, with a motive based on the same Dürer wood carvings we made the album cover from. Check them out <a href="http://fallentyrant.bandcamp.com/merch/shirt-girlshirt" target="_blank">HERE</a>, or buy one at our upcoming shows. DTM has also made some multi colour screen printed posters, I'll post some pictures soon.<br />
<br />
Speaking of shows:<br />
<br />
21.02.2014 - Frankenthal w/ Angur, Astaron, Minotaurus<br />
22.02.2014 - Osnabrück w/ Occultus, Thakandar, Larvae<br />
11.04.2014 - Mülheim w/ Morne, geÄst<br />
<br />
Be there!<br />

<br />
happy new year! I'm spontaneoulsy meeting up with Sperrfeuer tonight for the first Fallen Tyrant thing this year, while Nilathak is busy today with his other band <a href="http://www.angur.de/" target="_blank">Angur</a>, which you should check out if you like folk-tinged pagan black metal. We'll play a show with both bands in February in Frankenthal, so come and see us there.<br />

<br />
since the release, our album has been thoroughly trashed by some the bigger webzines. Main criticism was the sound, which is apparently too necro for them. Rest assured that we know what we are doing and that "No World To Win, A Life To Lose" sounds EXACTLY like we wanted it to sound, and if you don't like it, so be it.<br />
<br />
Still, if you came to this site from one of the shitty reviews that make it out as some kind of second "Under A Funeral Moon" or "Drawing Down The Moon," feel free to click on the embedded bandcamp player on the right and listen for yourself.<br />
<br />
On a side note, that sorry excuse for a journalist from Legacy can go fuck himself in the neck with a rusty knife. We have no problem with someone not liking our music and our way of doing things, but if you want to write a bad review, at least have the decency and write it yourself instead of piecing it together from other people, especially when you accuse bands of being unoriginal. Read the Legacy review and then the ones from metal.de, powermetal.de and metal1.info, and you'll know what I'm talking about.<br />

this is Mithras.<br />
<br />
It is done. "No World To Win, A Life To Lose" has been officially released, and we celebrated that by playing a release concert yesterday, on probably one of the hottest days of the year. The temperature in the room was already too much, so people kept leaving for fresh air and coming back all through Frigoris' and our set, but the heat on stage was insane. That was definitely the most exhausting gig I've ever played in my life - and I'm just the singer/guitarist, have a word with Sperrfeuer about that! I have a lot of respect for our drummer for pulling that one off yesterday, seriously. We're seriously sorry we couldn't play an encore, but that would definitely have resulted in physical damage.<br />
<br />
Well, talking of my band colleagues. We have our first ever line-up change, which might have been expected. DTM returned from the States a couple of weeks ago, but decided not to rejoin Fallen Tyrant. There are no hard feelings involved, and DTM joined us for an epic performance of "To Finnmarken" on stage for the last time yesterday. Thanks, brother, for the last three years, and ride on!<br />
<br />
From now on, Nihlathak is be a full member of the band, and has already proven himself filling in for DTM at the last two live gigs.<br />
<br />
That's that for now. We're back to rehearsing and songwriting from next week on.<br />
<br />
Children of a nuclear dawn, rise!

<br />
Well, tough luck, but nothing can stop the South Hessian Warmachine. We will release our album "No World To Win, A Life To Lose" on August 2nd at a concert at the Oetinger Villa in Darmstadt, 2100 hours. Another gig with Nihlathak on bass by the way.<br />
<br />
As a special guest, we welcome our friends FRIGORIS from Essen.<br />

<br />
Don't let their athmospheric, melodic black metal sound let you fool into thinking they're tame - we've played with them in Essen, and these guys are fucking AMAZING! Especially live, they just slay. They'll probably show us up in our own home, but we still invited them - because we care about good black metal. <br />
<br />
Okay, that's enough of that wannabe-trve bull shit... but seriously, BE THERE!<br />
<br />
Also, you can see the cover artwork of the album below. Sperrfeuer and DTM came up with the concept, and our producer Rene, who is also pretty good at visual art, then made this cover. Click it to enlarge, as it is pretty awesome. We just ordered the CD, flyers and the CD artwork as a 90 x 30 cm poster.<br />

we recently played a pretty good gig with our new live bass player Nihlathak, who is AWESOME for learning our entire set in just a couple of weeks.<br />
<br />
Also, our debut album "No World To Win, A Life To Lose" will be out in early July. 6 tracks of menacing South Hessian black metal and two interludes, clocking in at 36:07 altogether - short, but long enough for a black metal album!<br />
<br />
The opener of that album is now streaming in our soundcloud player, which you see on the right hand. Bow to the thermonuclear overlords of this world and enjoy FALLEN TYRANT RISING!<br />

<div style="margin-bottom: 0.0cm;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">On
February 23nd, we drove to Würzburg to support Vargsheim and
Apokrypha at their double CD release party. The Immerhin, located
beneath the Posthalle in an old nuclear safe bunker, was already
familiar to DTM and me as we have been there with Wight. We found the
guys from the other bands to be nice and relaxed folks, and so
everything went well and in a nice athmosphere, although the sound
check took a bit long and we had to rush through all our make up
stuff. We played the entire album to a pretty well sized crowd, to an
overall good reception, and got horribly drunk afterwards. At least
DTM, I and Addi, who came with us, did, Sperrfeuer volunteered for
driving back and was probably a bit annoyed by our obnoxious
behavior. Vargsheim and Apokrypha turned out to be great live bands,
with Vargsheim playing an athmospheric mix of black and doom metal
and Apokrypha sounding pretty much like Damned-In-Black-era Immortal
with the bass player of Iron Maiden. Also, they put on a rocking
show, and I haven't seen many Black Metal musicians enjoying
themselves on stage the way Andy and Freddy from Apokrypha do.</span></span></div>

we managed to find a guy who is a fucking rad bass player to help us
out for the time being. More info on that is coming, you know, we
have to find a silly stage name for him and all that jazz.</span></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0.0cm;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Also,
we had a foto shoot with a friend of our bass player who is a
photographer that week for the upcoming album, which was drowned in
fake blood and vast amounts of face paint. One of the band shots can
be seen right here.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">On
a rather short notice, DTM decided to have us play at our home at the
Oetinger Villa in Darmstadt on March 8th, together with local Thrash
Metal overlords Blood Patrol. We set up four (!) full stacks on
stage, and off we went. Blood Patrol blasted out their set of about
112% fast songs – you should really check these guys out, a mix of
old Sodom and punk, all the good stuff. We decided to put on the most
over the top live show so far. Blood, smoke, frankincense fumes, a
gruesome video show and plenty of room on stage for DTM and me to get
moving. The intensity of performing Fallen Tyrant's music live always
leaves me in a slightly confused state of mind after the show, but
this time it actually took me the most of three days to transition
back to normal. The plan was to create a dense athmosphere on this
gig, and I think we, and especially DTM, pulled that off quite well.
Managed to scare some of the non-metal people attending the gig, too.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">I'll
get back to the topic of Nazis a bit later, but there's one thing to
get off my chest right here because of a things that happened right
before the Darmstadt gig: People who try to connect us to the NSBM
scene and right wing ideology can go FUCK OFF AND DIE! I've said it
before, and I'll say it again, we have no connection to that scene in
any way shape or form. Each one of us has his political views, and
we will not discuss those in public, but rest assured that none of us
holds any racist or fascist opinions. We tend to react quite harshly
to such accusations – not only are we concerned about our
reputation as an honorable band, we also pride ourselves in being
thinking human beings. As such, we take any try to connect us to far
right idiocy as an insult to our intelligence. It's not yet time for
the general and official deathwish, but anyone who spouts that kind
of nonsense should at least be thoroughly patronized.</span></span>

<span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Another
quick rehearsal where we played like arse, and it was off to Cottbus
on March 16</span></span><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">th</span></span><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">.
Arroganz invited us there to support their CD release – we had met
the guys a year earlier in Frankfurt, when we both played with Der
Weg Einer Freiheit, and got along well, and that's how that one came
to pass. Anyways, the way to get to Cottbus is to drive to the arse
of the world, jump down, and keep on driving – it's in the far east
of Germany, and the trip there has been my longest trip with any band
to date. As the roads were free, the only highlight of the ride was
Sperrfeuer waking up from a nap on the back seat, blurting out
„Nekromisantrop!!“ and going back to sleep. Hospitality in
Cottbus was great as expected, the stage set up took a while, and we
had a nice chat with Chris from Blacksmith Records, among others. </span></span></div>

least for me, and after we got rid of our stage gear and make up, an

<span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> We made the questionable
decision to stop at a McDonalds in the middle of rural Saxony. Now,
we're quite infamous for constantly making fun of everything, especiall<span style="font-size: x-small;">y Nazis,</span> and
our offensive humour in general, but I guess we had cracked one
Hitler joke too many that day. There were already a couple of cars
with Nazi slogan stickers in the parking lot and too many skinheads
inside the place. When we came out again, the car seen on the picture
pulled up by the drive in, with a huge fucking Reichsadler (German
Imperial Eagle) sticker on the back window and slogans in old German
font written all over it! Well, it's all fun and games if you have a
laugh about the dumb East German nazi skins (and they exist in the
Wet too...), but I'm not too comfortable if a bunch of them are
actually around. Nothing to do here, off to the Autobahn it was ASAP.
I'm quite glad to live in Darmstadt, a town with virtually no nazi
assholes, after all.</span></span>

that's a short – or not so short – summary of what we did in the
last weeks, for those who care. Apart from that, we're still busy
with the album release. Right now, we're checking out offers and the
possibility of releasing it ourselves, but in the end it's all about
the money, Lewbowski! Which sucks. We have at least set the deadline

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Hey folks,</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
first of all, a happy (late) new year to all of you.<br /></div>
We are done, the album is recorded,
mixed and mastered in its entirity. Now we need title, artwork and
layout – which we are working on – and someone to release it.
Needless to say, I'm also working on the latter.
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
But back a bit. Initially, mixing was
to start in November already, but Rene and I both had busy schedules
with band, work and university, so that obviously didn't happen. Rene
did quite a bit of work over the holidays, so a pretty good rough mix
was already done when I returned to Darmstadt in the first week of
January. The work on all the details took up the whole of two weeks,
though. We had a pretty relaxed schedule, but still, Rene worked his
hours in the studio every day with either Sperrfeuer or me present at
almost all times. We used the one time DTM showed up to record some
gang shouts for „No World To Win, A Life To Lose“ (still
affectionately know by its working title „The Panzer Song“) which
turned out to be a great addition to the song. Well, not much more to
say about the mixing process... Rene did almost all of the work, and
a good job too, while Sperrfeuer and I were mostly there to annoy him
and make coffee and food. Steve, the guy who actually owns most of
the equipment in the studio, showed up a couple of times and gave
some valuable advice from his techno / electronic background which
Rene was able to make good use of, even when mixing a black metal
album.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Mastering was done rather quickly, so
the album is complete now. Needless to say, it sounds awesome.
Through the live recording, it retains the raw power trio feeling,
but isn't even close to necro sound rehearsal recordings in any way.
The production satisfies Sperrfeuer's need for a hard hitting metal
production as well as my preferences for dirty old school sound and
DTMs desire for a heavy bottom end. Be prepared!</div>

We'll keep you updated on all progress
concerning the release, but it might still take a while. As there
wasn't that much to say about the last two weeks in the studio, here
are some pictures I took during that time.<br /><br />Yours</div>
